The Collections are housed in the Special Collections and Archives department of the Sydney Jones Library at The University of Liverpool. Researchers with an interest in science fiction may use the Collections by prior arrangement with the Science Fiction Collections Librarian, Andy Sawyer (see Contact details). IMPORTANT: For use during summer 2008 please go to the Special Collections and Archives page.
Please note that the Collections are held in closed access
storage. It is not possible to browse the items held in our stores. Material
from the Collections must be identified using the search tools provided on our
Home page and requested in advance for use in the Reading Room. A reference collection appropriate
to the study of Science Fiction is also available in the Reading Room.
Lending policy
All material is strictly reference only. Material in the Science Fiction Collections is not available through Inter-Library Loans.
Reading Room
Apart from a small number of fragile items, all material in the Science Fiction Collections may be consulted in the Special Collections and Archives Reading Room, situated in the lower ground floor of the Sydney Jones Library, Chatham Street (location 81 on the University campus map). The Reading Room is open 9.30am - 4.45pm, Monday to Friday. Please make an appointment prior to your visit.
Photocopying
Subject to copyright regulations and our own conditions, we can provide photocopies of shorter items, such as journal articles. You will need to complete a Copy Request Form. Please include the item's call number and any other relevant information on the form. Details of the relevant conditions and charges are contained on the form.
